We were discussing in the office yesterday how easy it is to overlook all the beauty around us on a daily basis. We live in an awe inspiring area - emerald gulf, white sand, coastal dune lakes, wildlife (from bears to manatee), the bay, and all of our beautiful state parks.

As we head into this weekend, we are all nervous in Florida about hurricane Irma.  Our area is still in the clear fortunately but potential catastrophe brings about thoughts on life.  This morning my 7 year old son woke up in the wee hours of the morning and had a hard time going back to sleep.  He awoke again when I was leaving to walk the beach with our dog.  I asked if he would like to come along, but secretly I was hoping he would not so I could still have my "peaceful alone time" I so enjoy.  He went with me and I am forever grateful he did.  We had such an amazing morning walk together!  It is so easy to get wrapped up in life and forget those simple things in life that are important and cannot ever be gotten back.  Today we got to see loads of crabs in the water, stringrays, cranes, sandpipers, and even a large turtle swimming.  Image titleImage title

I am so grateful I got to witness all of that with Christian at my side.  I plan to start taking each kiddo at the crack of dawn when schedules allow to witness the various awakenings at the beach in the morning.

Yes, the homes along 30A are beautiful and there is no better place to live (in my opinion), but sometimes the most beautiful things are what we venture out to see and who we see them with.  I pray for the safety of everyone in Irma's path and that her intensity lessens.
